Thank you, Gwyneth Lewis, for your valuable insights into the process of writing poetry and living a poet’s life. You put into words what many of us experience as poets, such as standing still and receiving poems, which may appear to us shyly at first. Yes! As a Southerner, I often think of this as the poet’s response-ability in showing hospitality and listening to the poem, so I am delighted to hear your clear voice, stressing and beautifully expressing the importance of welcoming those first poetic lines.
